  Ishik University has realized the first of its public academic meetings:
‘New Developments in Thermal Insulation Conference’

Because of the global warming on earth, the importance of energy saving has been rising every day. One of the most effective ways of conserving energy is the efficient heating and cooling of buildings. Thermal Insulation which is an important problem in our region, has been discussed on a scientific meeting at Ishik University Conference Hall. The conference on ‘New Developments in Thermal Insulation’ has been co-organized by Ishik and Salahaddin Universities and held on January 30, 2010.  

Prof. Dr. Bayan El-Numan from Ishik University Engineering Dept. participated the meeting as the chair and speaker along with Prof. Dr. Hasan Kaplan from Epoka University in Albania, Prof. Dr. Dilshad Kakasur Jaf from Salahaddin University in Erbil, Assistant Prof. Dr. Omer Ozkan, and Dr. Muharrem Aktas from Sakarya University in Turkey. The subjects covered at the meeting were ‘Insulation for why? Effects of insulation on economy, environment and life quality’, ‘Insulation techniques in the new buildings: Organic and Inorganic insulation products’, ‘Cost reductions with insulation’ and ‘Insulation/renovation of old buildings with new materials-Sample solutions’. The audience was mainly consisted of technicians and businessmen from civil engineering and the building industry. Each speaker answered questions from the audience after their speech. The meeting ended with a consensus that insulation in buildings should be implemented in Iraq and the region as soon as possible as it is seriously handled and applied by statutory obligation.
